INTEGRATED APPROACH TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF BIOSENSORS, POTENTIAL DRUGS AND MATERIALS FOR REGENERATIVE MEDICINE

Dr. h. c. prof. Ing. Stanislav Miertuš, DrSc. is active in research and teaching for more than 40 years, first at Slovak Academy of Sciences in Bratislava, later at Faculty of Chemical Technology, Slovak Technical University in Bratislava and since 1990 in international research organization UNIDO in Italy, but also at Universities in Pisa, Trieste and New York, as a coordinator of research and professor. He was a coordinator of international research projects in more than 40 countries; he's currently Director General of ICARST n.o. and the professor of biotechnology at UCM in Trnava; the member of scientific boards MPOB Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, CEI Trieste, FCHPT STU Bratislava, UCM Trnava and laureate of several scientific awards.

He contributed to the development of science and new interdisciplinary fields such as bioanalytical and biophysical chemistry, computational and medicinal chemistry, biotechnologies and biomaterials with more than 180 publications in CC database (h-index 32), more than 20 books, more than 11900 citations, 2 international patents (PCT) and 2 US patents. His most significant achievements were in the field of theoretical chemistry and biochemistry, structure and biological activity of molecules, drug design, biosensors, biopolymers, biomaterials and medicinal biotechnology.
